    Representatives of the Polish National Agency of Academic Exchange (NAAE) and top Polish universities visited Guangzhou on October 25th and 26th, 2018. They took part in China Education Expo 2018 and participated in a Polish-Chinese seminar organized by the Consulate General of Poland in Guangzhou with support from NAAE. The conference was a chance to directly contact the Chinese partners.

    China Education Expo is an event taking place  every year in four Chinese cities (Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Shanghai), promoting academic exchange and allowing foreign universities to attract local students. Apart from the Polish participants, universities and institutions from Germany, Canada, USA, UK and a dozen of other countries were present. This year, besides taking part in the education fair in Guangzhou, the Polish delegation also went to Chengdu.

     

    The National Agency of Academic Exchange, which coordinated the mission, is a new Polish institution supporting internationalization of higher education. Among the Polish participants there was University of Warsaw, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, SWPS University and University of Silesia. The Polish-Chinese Education Foundation was also present.

     

    During the seminar at the Consulate General of Poland, the representatives of Polish universities had an opportunity to introduce their academic offer and current international cooperation, as well as to present partnership possibilities to the Chinese universities.

     

    During the meeting, the Consul General Ms Joanna Skoczek stated that the Polish-Chinese academic exchange intensifies every year. The number of Chinese students in Poland coming from the consular district has increased by 11% this year. Consul General encouraged the participants to contact the universities directly. Dr. Zofia Sawicka, Deputy Director General of NAAE, introduced the audience to the Polish education policy and the Agency’s efforts in this area.

     

     

    The Chinese universities present at the meeting were from Guangdong and Guangxi Provinces. There were technical, medical, business, humanist and comprehensive universities ranking at the top of the Shanghai list.

     

    Large number of participants is a proof of growing interest in Poland and recognition of its academic potential. The following Chinese universities presented themselves:

     

    • Sun Yat-sen University

    • Guilin University of Technology

    • Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University

    • Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School

    • Guangdong University of Petrochemical Technology

    • Youjiang Medical University for Nationalities

    • Guangdong University of Foreign Studies

    • Guangdong Pharmaceutical University

    • South China University of Technology

    • Hezhou University

     

    Also present there were representatives of local international schools who can now broaden the range of universities presented to their high school students, as well as representatives of agencies developing academic exchange.

     

    The seminar allowed the participants to gain a deeper comprehension of Polish academic potential and an opportunity to develop relations with the decision-makers responsible for starting cooperation with schools.
